Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute is consistently ranked as one of the top three undergraduate school for engineering in the country. But they have a small awareness problem.
They must attract top-flight students from around the country who have never heard of the school. This "Viewbook" has 24-pages of everything a high school student needs to know about Rose-Hulman written in a very unorthodox (for colleges), "smart-ass, wise guy" style. Thus, it's very disarming and straightforward. It's also been very effective.
The year Rose-Hulman first used the book was also the first year they went co-ed. With this book as the foundation of their recruiting efforts, they attracte four times the number of co-eds they anticipated (80 total) and had one of the best entering freshmen classes they had had in years.
