It shouldn't surprise you...
that a large percentage of our freshmen had never heard of Rose-Hulman until their junior year in high school. So before you talk to your folks about us, you may want to read this whole brochure first. That way, you can prepare them for the real surprise.
“What real surprise?” you ask? Well, simply that there is no other school quite like Rose-Hulman. For some people that may be a problem. For a student of your ability, it could be a solution. Here's why:
Rose-Hulman only grants degrees in engineering and the physical sciences (that means sciences which don't require dead frogs). The success of our world depends upon engineers and scientists. Especially those who have the intelligence, the discipline, and the well-rounded background of a Rose-Hulman grad. Since these are problem-solving professions, we teach using a problem-solving approach. With lots of real world, hands-on type situations.
In order to do that, you the student, are taught by professors who emphasize reality along with the theoretical. And you, the student, use lots of real world gear; amazing stuff that you can use even in your freshman years.
The abilities and skills you will possess as a Rose-Hulman engineer or scientist can put you at the front of the line for all kinds of exciting, challenging careers. For instance, who's going to solve the earth's environmental problems — CPAs and art history majors? Get real. And who's going to redesign America's infrastructure? Invent replacements for human organs and bones? Develop a truly clean internal combustion engine? And help third world countries get back on their feet?
The answer is scientists and engineers.
