Script Writing and Production
Writing for the spoken word, whether video or audio, is much different than writing for print or the web. I have highlighted three of my radio commercials to show you my expertise.
Radio
While still in college, I wrote commercials at a local radio station. Lacking the advantages of visuals or the ability to repeat, I found radio is a very difficult medium to master. But when done correctly, the results can be very gratifying for both the advertiser and the creative person. Besides writing the scripts, I also produce all of my spots. That means I cast the actors, select the recording studio, supervise the recording session, direct the talent, select the music and background sounds, and oversee the final mix. These three spots were all recorded here in Atlanta using Atlanta actors (that's me as the announcer in two of them).
- “Mama Brown”: Created for Marketing Results, this spot won the Gold MIRM award which is a big deal national award for the residential real estate industry

- “Scott Talks”: In the Portfolio section you'll find the hugely successful Gamma Knife newspaper ad for Piedmont Hospital. Several years later, Piedmont decided to do the radio version, again using Scott, but this time he tells his story in his own voice.

- The QuikTrip Coffee Cops: The large gas and convenience store chain QuikTrip asked me to highlight their coffee in a series of radio commercials. The results are the Coffee Cops, “sworn to protect the general public from a crummy cup of coffee”.
